Lecture series on “Galois Theory”
The Department organized a series of lectures on Galois Theory. In mathematics, more specifically in abstract algebra, Galois theory, named after Évariste Galois, provides a connection between field theory and group theory. Using Galois theory, certain problems in field theory can be reduced to group theory, which is in some sense simpler and better understood.
Dr. Vishnu Namboothiri K. , Assistant Professor, BJM Govt. College Chavara, Kollam, who is an active researcher in this field, gave the series of lectures, starting form the basics of Abstract Algebra and leading to Galois Theory. The lectures were on 24/07/2014 and 01/08/2014. This lecture series is arranged as part of the on going PhD course work programme of the M.G university conducting by the college. The research Scholars of the Department as well as our post graduate students attended the programme, which helped them to learn this beautiful theory in Abstract Algebra.
